Oden- Dashi Broth Stew

This is a classic winter food for us. We usually cook it in a pot right at the dinner table, and have a long dinner time.


Ready in: 6 hours (15 minutes of preparation time)

Ingredients for two:
Some boiled eggs, or quails eggs because my crockpot is small
Some daikon radish
One cake of konyaku, yum potato cake
Konbu seaweed, if you don't add this, you need one cup of Dashi stock
Some fried tofu
Some fishcakes, optional
Some mustard as a condiment
Soup
2 cups of water
2 tablespoons of Mirin
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
1 tablespoons of sake or white wine
1 tablespoons of maple sylup or sugar

Equipment:
Crockpot, you can make it in a pot as well 

Step 1: Cut all the ingredients to fit in your pot, and put everything in the pot.

Step 2: Add the soup in the pot, and set crockpot at low for 6 hours.

Buta No Kaku Ni- Pork Belly Cooked in Coke

Prepare this food at night in a crock pot! 



Ready in: 10 hours (the preparation time is 5 minutes)

Ingredients for two:
100g pork slice or block
350ml coke can
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
Some ginger slices 
Some green onions

Step 1: Cut the pork and cook in a pan.  





Step 2: put the pork in a crock pot with ginger slices, add coke and soy sauce.



Start cooking in "Auto" or "Low"

After 4 to 6 hours
Step 3: Add eggs.



Cook another 4 hours!
Step 4: Put some green onions to serve


Kare- Japanese Curry and Rice


Who doesn't like curry!? Curry is world favorite food, isn't it? Japanese curry is brown and think. Try to cook it up to 24 hours, and you will know what I mean by "world favorite"!


Ready in: 24 hours! (incl. 10 minutes preparation)

Ingredients for four:
1 tablespoon of butter
1 garlic clove, minced
1 onion, sliced
Any vegetables in your fridge
4 Japanese curry cubes
If needed, meat or seafood such as beef, chicken or shrimp, cook in a pan
Japanese Curry Cubes
 

Step 1: Cut vegetables into fine cubes.

Step 2: Cook onions and garlic with butter.


 Step 3: Put everything into a crock pot, and set as low.

12 hours later
Step 4: Put curry cubes and meat a couple of hours before eating. Shrimp should only go on the plate when serving.

Niku Jyaga- Potato and Pork Stew

Who doesn't like Niku Jyaga!?



You can make it without meat.



Ready in: 15 minutes

Ingredients for two:
1 onion, sliced
30g of sliced pork or ground pork
1 carrot, cut into cubes
2 potatoes, cut into cubes
2 tablespoons of honey/ maple syrup
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
100ml of chicken broth (100ml of warm water+1 tea spoon of chicken broth powder)
Sesame oil

Step 1: Brown onions with sesame oil.


Step 2: Add pork.

Step 3: Add carrots and potatoes.

I added Konnyaku noodles.
 Step 4: Once they are all mixed, add honey, broth and soy sauce. Cook till carrots get soft.

Step 5: Voila!

Toriniku No Suppa Ni- Chicken Wings and Eggs Cooked in Vinegar and Soy Sauce

Are you looking for food that looks good, tastes good and fills you up? Then, this is it!



Ready in: 30 minutes

Ingredients for two:
4 boiled eggs
4 or 5 chicken wings
<Prepare the following in a pan>
1/2 cup of soy sauce
1/2 cup of white vinegar
Green onions
3 slices of ginger
1 dry chili
3 tablespoons of sugar

Step 1: Heat up the pan with ingredients, and cook for about 10 minutes.


Step 2: In a bowl, put cold water and 2 teaspoons of salt, and then wash chicken wings.
<Tip> Cut along bone so that the soup will go in the wings.

Step 3: Add wings in the pan.
Take out gingers and a chili if you don't like a strong spice taste.

Step 4: Add eggs in the pan, and cook for about 10 minutes.
