Som Tam Salad with Kohlrabis

Thailand for Japanese young people is just like a resort down south for North Americans. In stead of staying at a resort, we stay at a hostel and try street food in Thailand.

I got kohlrabis in my organic vegetable box. I've never seen or heard of this vegetable. It tasted light and the texture was crunchy, just like green papaya. The first thing I thought of was making Som Tam salad, green papaya salad. It's my favorite Thai food.

Ready in: 20 minutes

Ingredients:
1 or 2 kohlrabis, shredded
1/4 tomatos, diced
One hand full of green beans
1/4 Spanish onions, sliced and leave in water for 15 minutes
1/4 carrots, shredded
[Prepare in a mortar]
10g of dried shrimp, cut into small pieces
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of fish sauce
2 tablespoons of lime juice
One hand full of roasted peanuts
Some chili, optional
1 teaspoons of peanut butter, optional

Required Equipment:
Mortar & pestle

Step 1: Cut vegetables and put them in a bowl.

Step 2: Make the sauce.

Step 3: Add the sauce in the salad and mix it well.
