Ganmodoki- Soy Fritter

In Japan, we have Budhism vegan cuisine called Shojin Ryori.
In that cuisine, they have so many meat imitations such as Sashimi Konnyaku (Yam cake).   

Ganmodoki is a popular meat imitation in that cuisine. It should taste like meat.


Ready in: 30 minutes

Ingredients for two:

<Prepare the following in a bowl>
150g of Tofu or Okara soy pulp
One handfull of dried mushrooms, chopped
1/4 cup of sliced carrots
1/4 cup of green onions
1/4 cup of Edamame beans, if you want
1/4 cup of corn starch
5cm of Japanese wild yam
Frying Oil

<Sauce>
Minced ginger
Soy sauce

Step 1: If you are using Tofu, place kicthen paper on a plate, and put a block of Tofu on it. Place another plate on top of the Tofu, and leave it overnight to drain contained water.

Step 2: Grazed wild yam.
Step 3: Place Tofyu or Okara in a bowl, and add all the ingredents. Mix everything well.
Step 4: Make 2.5" flat balls.

Step 5: In a pan, put frying oil about 2" high.

Step 6: Cook the balls in oil till they become golden.

Step 7: Eat with ginger sauce.
So, does it taste like meat?
